The inspiration for this thread came from a Facebook group.....and, a question conveniently entitled exactly what I named this thread....lol.....this has always been a topic of major consideration in my min.......I remember returning from a year in Afghanistan....and, I came home and was 19 or 20.....and, wasn't able to drink.....i was never a very big drinker to begin with......but, I think it's just the idea that I had rockets and bullets shot at me, but, I wasn't able to indulge in a celebatory drink when I got home..... What does everyone here think?......... (I may post this question in a few different locations in samSForce....feel free to cut and paste your thoughts/replies over to other places.....if you'd like......)

i can see this from both sides, and to be honest, i don't really have an opinion one way or another. they can be shot at and so forth, but can't have a beer?....doesn't make sense to me...but on the other hand, 18 is still very young, and some, not all, are not mature enough to take the priveledge responsibly. if we let just 18 year old military personnel drink alcohol, then the rest of the 18 year old civilians will throw a fit, if they like to drink.... however, if someone wants to drink alcohol, they will one way or another. so, as you can see, i don't stand on either side of the fence. i agree with both sides.

lol....tough luck....perhaps, drinking could be used as an incentive for kids to join the military? (lol...i know that wouldn't be feasible for many reasons.....)

haha well i thought of that after re reading what i wrote...but that's no reason to join...they should join b/c they want to, not b/c they'll be able to drink...
