Hey Melody, Ok here's the thing. I am engaged to someone who just started basic training and we love eachother more than words can describe. I have arlredy recived a letter from Fort Jackson. I have sent her two. It does take a while to get there though. See, She is from Pennsylvaina and I am from Toronto. We plan on getting married in august when she is done all her training. We have also agreed on living on base wherever she gets stationed. I fully support her and the us army. I never realized how close of a family it was and that just makes me love and miss her more. I realize how serious all this is and guess I'm just a bit scared but I need to be brave for her. So I have been sending just letters of support and encourgment. Like I said I am new to all this. I would love to join the army but she made me promise not to. I just miss her. Thanks for letting me vent.

It's awsome to have you here! secondly, let me say, CONGRATS on your engagement!! I'm sure the two of you are an awsome couple, and i'm very excited for you! You are right, the military is a family like no other. It is normal for you to be scared for her...this is a very tring and emotional time. you need to not only be brave for her, but you need to be brave for yourself, and for the two of you as a couple. however, during this "being brave" process, don't forget that it's ok to get emotional...in fact, it's not healthy to bottle everything up all the time, trust me on that... anyway, keep sending her letters and throw in a couple of pictures too! I wouldn't advise sending a care package to basic training though...it would boost her morale, but it would also probably boost her PT time...LOL....D.I's don't like for their soldiers to get packages...i don't know this personally, but i do have many many friends that have gone through it...lol i can't speak for her, obviously, but i'm sure all she wants is to hear from you in letters and to know that you love and miss her and that you and yall's family and friends are all doing well. I hope i've helped a bit...I wish you two nothing but the best of everything life has to offer. Please keep us posted!! and if you ever need to vent or just need someone to talk to, don't hesitate to post it or send me a PM....i'm always here for anyone that needs someone to listen to them...
