As Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines we are sworn to uphold, protect and defend the Constitution for the United States of America..
Something I noticed a while ago, I'm not sure about the other services, but in the Army the Constitution isn't in the big majority of promotion study guides, we are not required to know the Constitution and they do not ask about it at soldier/NCO of the month boards or promotion boards.
They preach that we are the "Land of the Free" but they do not teach or encourage learning the document that secured our freedoms.
My question is, why are we sworn to uphold the Constitution, but they don't talk about it, teach it and even snicker when you start talking about it?

A buddy of mine, and I, were talking about how we believe our country has digressed, in the past couple years.....it's become a major concern of mine.....my buddy is VERY smart....he can recite statistics and army regulations with incredible ease.....he had told me yesterday that it's truly unfortunate that most Americans can name the entire cast of the Simpsons, yet, they have no idea about questions regarding our Constitution/ Amendments.... ...it's unfortunate to see where wev'e come as a nation....

Probably because many high schools mandate a U.S. Government/Politics class. I think the armed forces have more... important things to train our soldiers about. If you want to learn about the Constitution... buy a copy or take a class. But yeah, I think it's because A) You should learn it in high school & B) Since we are at war... Constitutional studies sort of take a back burner.

the Constitution should at the least be in the study guides and be required to at least know the basics in order to get promoted
Where are we going to be headed if the military doesn't learn and forgets about what they are sworn to protect?

All of this is very true. But one thing that caught my eye was teaching is schools. This is the foundation THE PEOPLE. We as Americans need to know our constitution. I can say for one that I don't know everything I need to know and probably myself take it for granted sometimes. MAY WE NEVER!!! Shame on me and others in America for doing so. A lot is resting on our militarty men and women. I think the American PEOPLE need to assume some responsibility with some things. This country is becoming abunch of wooses who want others, including our military, to do everything for them. Pay bills, pay healthcare, pay schooling. It's incredibly sad! The people need to get back the spirit we once had, the patriotism that couldn't be shaken. I don't think our military has any need of a study for the constitution. The reason is this, WE SHOULD ALL BE RAISED AS CHILDREN LEARNING AND LOVING IT!!! I do however think the military should throw some questions about it into the testing. You have sparked my heart in dealing with this and I am now going to study it. I WANT and NEED to know my constitution front back sideways and always. I am ashamed of myself for how little I know about. Thanks for reminding me of it's importance!

here's a website that sells "pocket constitutions" i ordered one and it has alot of good info in it; jury rights, constitution/bill of rights, declaration of independence and quotes from our founding fathers along with a bunch of other good info. you can order them in bulk to to pass around infowars-shop.stores.yahoo.net/ciru.htmlthis website does have some far-fetched "conspiracy theory" stuff on it, if you go there you'll see what i mean..
