There is a lot of arguement about what "support the troops" means. From a military personnel point of view, what does it mean to you?

I'm not military personnel - I'm a mom of one, but I'm going to reply. Supporting our troops means supporting my son. I do not agree with the war, I want all our sons, daughters, husbands, wives, loved ones to come home alive and now. What I do believe in is my son. How he explained it to me is this is what he signed up for. This is his job and that he believes in. Doing his job, doing his part makes it possible for me, you, all of us to be able to sit in the comfort of our homes and share our thoughts without fear of repercussion or persecution. I believe in my son. Thats how I support our troops. By loving him and his dedication unconditionally.

I support my fellow sailors, marines, and soldiers 100%. I haven't gotten chosen for an IA (Individual Augmentee) yet but have came very close a few times. I know my number is soon to come up and I will go and do my best in whatever they need me to do. One of my best friends is over there now and I am still waiting on his return! There are a lot of guys down there I have served with on the boat. I support by being in the military and support my brother (My best friend) by writing and talking to him. (Which is few and far between) And will support him with a huge party when he does return!

I support the troops with being positive and backing them up whenever a commie bstrard or some leftist pig bashes them. I was brought up in a very patriotic family and will continue to live in that manner.

I think that it means supporting what they are doing. It means showing support for those who are doig what they do, and supporting WHAT and WHY they are doing it. I'm not saying that you have to like war, noone should in their right mind like war. But I think it's important that everyone shows support for what they are doing, and who they are fighting for rather then constantly tell us that we are dying for no reason.
