It seems like it's been ages since those dreaded forced runs in Basic Training....at least for me.......lol......but, what's the furthest everyone here has run in one outing?......I know that running was never my strong suit.....I did come just shy of maxing my PT test once, while serving in afghanistan (I think it was like a 13:10....2 mile....).......but, I haven't done that since '02'-'03......my last PT test was 14:30......but, even still, I was never a big fan of running.....so, I usually just train for 2 miles or a little over.......
so......for all you avid runners out there........What's the furthest youv'e run in one shot? Marathon? Have any of you attempted to pull-off a Forrest Gump-type feet?.......(running across country, and back....).....lol

25 miles... in 1984. 4am normal PT, they marched us to a clearing and we watched the choppers swirling in on us in rotation combat evac. They flew us out on Choppers (Chinooks)and we ran back to the detachment. A new PT trainer.. (a real live showboat, known all over the Army) ...best part of the whole deal was the Chopper ride.. MAN! I will never forget that as long as I live... and this guy LOVED to make a big impression. Cant remember his name tho. (Big black SSGt). Jackson or Thompson or something ...Anybody? (he liked to stand on a box he carried with him to PT.)
Anyway, we got back to the compound and he dropped us for pushups and we did like 75 on a quick 4 count.... we was all freakin-out afterwards. I coulda prolly done about 300 if I had to. None of us knew, after a run like that, we could kick out over a 100 pushups like it wasn't diddly squat. Pumped beyond belief... learned something about myself that day for sure. This guy was good too. Cadence was all Hollywood. And we didn't lose a single guy. He was constantly grabbin guys up and running them to the front. (Freaky. ...really freaky.) -Put a guy in front and make him squad leader. then he CANT quit... and if THIS guy chewed your butt out, it stayed chewed for days.
There was a deathly quiet hush all over the detachment for the next few weeks too... but that morning... you coulda heard a pin drop in the mess hall.
I know y'all have heard of the guy...I just cant remember his name...
-Happy civillian LMAO!

When I ran cross country in middle school my coaches liked to have us run our course, then turn around and run it backwards... So all in all it ended up being about 4 miles, plus the .5 mile warmup and lots of hills right after.
My best 2 mile time though is 12:36. Guess those 4 miles really did so something...
Too bad that was 5 years ago.
