Thanks guys (and gals).....lol....i think the black background is more visually appealing....it's kinda growing on me.....once the logo is finalized, though, it should have a transparent background.....and, I may try making the background a dark-grey........so as to not completely clash with the girl's hair........id like to get rid of the 'white' around the logo....but, im not an expert at this....just taking it one step at a time.....just watch out for changes every once in a while as i experiment

Love the black too, makes everything easier to read. Personally I think you should keep the white background especially since "On the homefront, and on the frontlines." is in black, plus certain parts on the uniform!

If you MUST alter the logo Sam, I would encourage you to stick with as few colors as possible (considering what it costs to have decals, teeshirts, and other promotional items manufactured) and keep the white background. You can change the space needed for the logo by cropping it from a rectangle to an outline a few mils larger than the objects in the logo. Something like this maybe? This white sort of background makes your logo work with any color it is applied to in any media, because white is a neutral color. The logo is beautiful Brother, I wouldn't play with it. It is very bad practice to alter your most visually recognizable feature.
