"This is a group where veterans, military spouses, friends of veterans, or anyone for that matter can learn more about dealing with combat experiences, how hard it is on the military spouses, and to help and heal each other. We have a lot of veterans in here many that went through simliar experiences and can use each other to help each other. I understand that many Veterans dont feel comfortable talking to someone in person yet, this group can allow you to talk about what you want and at your own pace. Military spouses can help each other out while waiting for their loved ones to come home. Those of you who have are having problems, you are not alone and I hope we can all help each other out. Many of you served to protect our freedom, made many sacrifices and are deserve to move on with their lives. It's important for society to realize the effects of Warfare and combat and to stop judging. We need to take a look at the bigger picture and stop watching just MSNBC or CNN or our Local newspaper, because it's not always true!
The people who we need to listen to are the soldiers coming home, the soldiers on the front lines, the military wives and husbands who don't have their spouses for 12-15 months. These people hold the true facts and the information that I want to hear. In this group we have a wide variety of members, Veterans, military wives, ex military, civilians, teachers, students, finding help can be one step away. If you need it, we as a community can help. To all the Veteran's that are home, "Welcome Home" and to all the soldiers still over in Iraq/Afghanistan, people do care about what you are doing. We offer no judments about what happened in combat but do offer friendship and compassion. Now let's start healing our Veterans and Families one day at a time.
We must come together as a nation and offer support to Veterans and their families. In talking with a Vet recently he put it this way about soldiers and combat.... When was the last time 95 or 295 or whatever major highway near you was IED' or VBIED... When was the last time a suicide bomber walked into stop and shop...When was the last time your home was mortared'.... These are things Veterans had to deal with everyday, being on alert 24 hours a day.. Think about it, realize the affects, offer help, get involved, educate yourself, be proactive. We fight this through awareness. We can't wait until the VA is at it's absolute breaking point. If the next President decides to pull out of Iraq/Afghanistan think of how many Vets will be returning home. They will return to an already over burdened VA system, this is real, we all need to get involved.
