Most often when people think about sending care packages, they think of sending them overseas. Well we don't always need to send packages to those stationed overseas. There are countless men and women that are stationed here in the states and are away from their family and friends too. We need to not forget these men and women. We need to be sending them packages too!!

We need to be sending them packages too!! So true, Mel! And, people shouldn't get sucked into the generic 'support your troops' mantra.....and, think that others will step up and just send care packages, so you don't have to. I'm of the opinion that supporting our military is a constant process that should occur in times of war, and in times of peace. It wasn't until 9/11 and all the yellow ribbons starting popping up, that people really gave thought to our military. It's sad that it takes a horrific national disaster. It's like the military is almost this often-overlooked minority.....even though it's really about 1-%5 of Americans who are willing, and able, to sacrifice so much for their country and their countrymen. Seeing people like Britney Spears and Nicole Ritchie on the news just makes me sense....we've completely lost the concept of who our countries REAL heros are. It's sad.

Hi, I'm Mark. I am engaged to someone who just started basic training. Is there anything I can send her to help with moral? I would really like to show my support.

one thing that kept my spirits high while I was at BCT was a constant stream of letters from home saying how proud they were of me. don't send boxes that will just cause grief because the Drill Sgt's LOVE giving hell to anyone that gets a package. So send LOTS of letters!
